Özet

In the study authored by Sadi Ön, it is stated that the use of isokinetic exercise and dynamometry provides a more objective, safe, and accurate evaluation of muscle strength compared to isometric and isotonic methods. Isokinetic testing measures torque force by allowing full muscle tension throughout a joint's range of motion at a constant movement speed, enabling the identification of concentric and eccentric muscle capabilities that are difficult to observe using traditional resistance protocols like free weights. This method is widely utilized among elite athletes in various sports to evaluate bilateral leg strength differences in the hamstring (H) and quadriceps (Q) muscles, determine the H:Q ratio, measure the impact of training routines on muscle strength, and examine the relationship between muscle strength and jumping or sprinting performance. A review of the literature reveals significant variations in testing protocols, including warm-ups on cycle ergometers or treadmills with dynamic stretching, angular velocities ranging from 60°/s to 360°/s, varied submaximal and maximal repetitions, and rest intervals between sets, series, or limbs ranging from 20 seconds to 10 minutes. These inconsistencies and ambiguities regarding rest, repetition, and transition durations create challenges for researchers selecting appropriate protocols. By synthesizing current literature data, this review aims to guide researchers investigating isokinetic knee extensor and flexor strength in formulating more specific and standardized test procedures.
