Cancer is a complex and serious health problem that negatively affects human life in physiological, psychological, social, and economic dimensions. In individuals diagnosed with cancer, deep traumatic reactions are observed due to factors such as the loss of a healthy self, difficult and lengthy treatment methods, and the risk of disease recurrence. According to Kübler-Ross's model, patients may go through the stages of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance following diagnosis. Throughout this challenging process, individuals encounter multifaceted psychosocial problems such as withdrawal from work life, changes in body image, loss of autonomy, uncertainty, economic concerns, and fear of death, which frequently lead to psychiatric problems like major depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. To support patients' adaptation to the disease and treatment, alleviate their emotional distress, and improve their quality of life, various psychotherapy models and psychosocial support approaches are applied, including Supportive Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Supportive Expressive Group Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Art Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy. Considering the increase in cancer cases worldwide and in Turkey, the need for specialized psychological support interventions to holistically support patients' mental health is of critical importance.
