In this study, the importance of agility in the branch of Taekwondo, which involves both perceptual-cognitive and physical dimensions including the ability to rapidly respond to a stimulus and change direction and speed, is examined in detail. Taekwondo, whose literal meaning signifies the moral path followed by foot and hand strikes and which is practiced through belt ranks ranging from white to black, is today an Olympic discipline with millions of practitioners under the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). The sport of Taekwondo is fundamentally divided into two main competition disciplines: Poomsae, which is based on non-contact movement patterns, and Kyorugi, which is a full-contact combat discipline. In order to achieve high-level athletic performance in both disciplines, agility is a vital prerequisite directly related to biomotor abilities such as explosive lower extremity power, speed, and dynamic balance. Athletes' rapid footwork, direction changes, and effective strikes during offensive and defensive maneuvers in limited competition spaces rely heavily on high agility performance. In evaluating agility levels, alongside general methods such as the T-Test, 505 Agility Test, Reactive Agility Test, and Illinois Agility Test, the Taekwondo Specific Agility Test (TSAT), which fully reflects sport-specific techniques and movement patterns, comes to the fore. In line with scientific research findings, it is recommended that coaches apply sport-specific agility tests to athletes and design Taekwondo-specific training and exercise programs based on the data obtained.
