This study aims to examine the compulsive buying behaviors of students in the Coaching Education Department at Bartın University Faculty of Sport Sciences in terms of various demographic and behavioral variables. Designed within the quantitative general survey model, the study included a total of 158 students (57 females and 101 males) selected through convenience sampling during the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Data were collected using a Personal Information Form and the 24-item Compulsive Buying Scale consisting of four sub-dimensions. The gathered data were analyzed using t-tests, One-Way ANOVA, and Spearman Rank-Order Correlation Analysis. According to the research findings, participants' emotion levels while shopping were high, whereas unplanned buying after emotional disturbance and spending tendency levels were low, and post-purchase guilt feelings were at a moderate level. Regarding gender, significant differences favoring females were identified in emotions experienced while shopping and spending tendency dimensions, whereas no significant differences were found based on class level, place of residence, active sports participation, or physical exercise status. Furthermore, as participants' age and weekly time spent on the internet and social media increased, spending tendency and unplanned buying levels after emotional disturbance showed low-level positive increases. Finally, personal and family income levels showed no significant relationship with compulsive buying dimensions.
