The text addresses the critical role of genetic structure and metabolic characteristics in understanding and enhancing sports performance through a multidisciplinary perspective. While metabolism regulates energy balance and cellular molecular transformations in biological systems via anabolic and catabolic reactions, genetic variations (polymorphisms) among individuals directly determine response to exercise, endurance, strength, and muscle structure. The author explains in detail the functions of specific gene variations, such as ACTN3 in rapid muscle contraction and power generation, ACE in cardiovascular control, EPOR in oxygen transport capacity, IGF-1 in muscle mass and tissue repair, MCT1 in lactate transport, and COL1A1 along with MMP3 in connective tissue and tendon health. In addition, genes like MAO, COMT, and BDNF are stated to influence mood and mental processes such as attention, focus, motivation, and stress and anxiety management by affecting neurotransmitter metabolism. However, it is emphasized that genetic background is not a sole destiny on its own; environmental factors such as training, nutrition, sleep, and ambient conditions can dynamically modulate gene expression through epigenetic mechanisms. Ultimately, it is argued that reducing an athlete's potential to just a few gene variations is scientifically erroneous, and that genetic, metabolic, and environmental factors must be evaluated with a holistic approach while maintaining ethical standards.
