This study thoroughly examines the role, core concepts, application areas, and historical development of technology in the rapidly changing and transforming sports industry. Due to its multifaceted and multidisciplinary nature, sports heavily utilizes technology by highlighting innovation management, intellectual and structural capital, and technological entrepreneurship. Technology readiness is shaped by motivating positive factors such as optimism and innovativeness, alongside inhibiting negative elements like discomfort and insecurity, developing through mobile commerce, social media, and wearable technologies. In the context of sports, technology directly contributes to athletes' motor learning and performance development through wearable sensors, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and biological feedback systems during pre-event training, live performance during competition, and post-event analysis phases. Furthermore, digital entrepreneurship applications such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things transform the communication and business operations of sports organizations. In the historical evolution process, technological innovations—such as photo-finish and RFID chips in athletics, Goal-Line Technology and VAR systems in football, GPS data tracking and Hawk-Eye in rugby, Virtual Graphics, DiveCam, and specialized swimsuits in swimming, and radar devices, smart racquets, and Hawk-Eye in tennis—have reshaped the structure of these sports disciplines. Consequently, technology has become an inevitable and indispensable component of the sports world by enhancing decision accuracy, athletic performance, and spectator experience.
